The Cabinet d’Arts Graphiques at the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire de Genèva owns a fine collection of approximately one hundred Japanese surimono prints. After their very successful show of the kabuki-related prints in the fall of 2014 the museum will continue its cooperation with the University of Zurich and with the invited Japanese experts in order to prepare an exhibition on the surimono prints in 2018-2019. Leading specialists in the field such as Prof. Akama (Ritsumeikan University) and Prof. Okubo (National Museum of Japanese history) will provide their assistance and hold hands-on workshops for the students. Students of the University of Zurich will again be actively involved in the project by contributing to the catalogue entries and online database of the prints.
