Lecture: Sommelier Fumio Maeda and the Green Tea Seminar

A Green Tea Sommelier observes the color and shape of green tea leaves, checks the color, flavor and taste of prepared tea and determines its leaf type, production area, and quality. Mr. Maeda will introduce the participants to “green tea for daily life in Japan”. These days, the Japanese tea ceremony that uses green powder tea is famous outside of Japan, but the Japanese people enjoy leaf tea sencha in their daily lives. During the seminar, Mr. Maeda will explain how to prepare green tea, such as the appropriate amount of tea leaves, the temperature of the hot water, and the time for steeping. Then he will explain the importance of blending different types of leaves. He will prepare samples of tea from various production areas, and will then prepare a special blended tea with leaves from different locations.
