Siegfried Bing (1838-1905), a naturalized French citizen of German Jewish origin, was a dealer and patron of first Japonisme, and then of Art Nouveau, during the latter half of the 19th century. In this paper, Ms. Lin will look at the multiple strategies of display that Bing utilized to create a new experience through objects and a new display environment in his efforts to promote Japonisme to a specific new type of consumer
